Creative Director - Stacey Sheron

Now that we know the difference between Designers and Decorators, let’s move on to jaw dropping design. There are rooms that make you sigh; and then there are rooms that make you gasp. I’m talking about those rooms that make you really gasp. I introduced you to StaceAge a few weeks ago, but I want to really dive in this week; give you a little background on the reason I flat line for a few moments every time I get to see the visual smorgasbord. The person behind StaceAge is Stacey Sheron, part owner of Lewis and Sheron Textiles.

To Design or To Decorate?

To Design or To Decorate?

That is the Question! Here’s the Answer…

I know it’s not really a big deal in layman’s term and everybody gets it wrong, or basically it’s not really a big deal. (I mean we do have global warming, nuclear weapons, gas spills and hunger to worry about.) No one really cares… Unless you are a DESIGNER. You worry about that and more. Technically a designer has gone to school.

Sharing Fabric Love

Sharing Fabric Love

Last week I told you about my private battle with fabric addiction. This week I want to share with you my love for my industry. There is an admiration I possess for my fellow designers. I don’t like to copy them, but I do like to study them. I like to see what they are doing and how they are doing it. It can only help me to be better. As I enter into my 40’s I have come to a place where I find it is more beneficial to associate with other designers than to go boldly into the horizon on my own. Can I handle big projects?

Ok, so I was browsing around on MarthaStewart.com, perusing thru the different DIY projects she has on the site, when I came across this cute little summer bag. DIY: Ribbon/Tack Board

DIY: Ribbon/Tack Board

When it comes to lovely homes, it’s the details that really complete the design. Unfortunately though, those little additions can sometimes be quite expensive. I mean, you can spend an entire month’s check trying to purchase home décor items.

It’s this reason that DIY projects are so awesome! Typically, the cost of creating something yourself is less expensive than purchasing the completed item. Not to mention, a lot of the materials used are things we all have at home.

Custom Draperies: How To Measure For Them

Custom Draperies: How To Measure For Them

The other day, I was in Curtain Call at Lewis & Sheron Textiles, visiting with the head of the department, Susie Rutherford, and she was kind enough to show me some of the custom draperies she and the ladies at the workshop have been working on. Let me just say that these ladies do amazing work!...I mean, just beautifully made drapes! Anyway, while speaking with her I thought to myself “who doesn’t love custom draperies?” They’re simply beautiful. You get exactly what you pay for. They truly “fit” your windows. Seriously, what’s not to love?

Spring Forward

Spring Forward

After the winter we’ve been having, it’s an easy assumption that we’re all looking forward to the warm weather of spring, and all that it brings. Well, the design world is no different. Although 2014 seems to already have its designated color for the year, the seasons still have their trends to contribute to the yearly design fabric.

For Spring 2014, bold colors seem to be taking their respective places in the limelight, with color variations of yellow, purple, blue and grey taking center stage.

Tickled PINK!

Tickled PINK!

Tickled PINK!... or, Purple?!

As many of you may, or may not know, the Pantone Color Institute designates a Color of the Year, every year, to “express in color what is taking place in the global zeitgeist,” and they’ve done this since year 2000. The colors they choose are those that will resonate globally and ring true to the spirit of consumers worldwide. Well, this year is no different from the rest. The color that speaks to the world this year is Pantone 18-3224, better known as Radiant Orchid.

DIY Valentine Decor

DIY Valentine Decor

With Valentine’s Day 2014 sneaking up on us, as it always does, it’s easy to get caught up in your day-to-day routine and forget to celebrate the love you share with friends, family and loved ones. Somehow, it seems much easier to remember to celebrate the other holidays, like Thanksgiving, Christmas and Halloween, and it’s probably because we do so much to prepare for those (i.e. decorating, cooking and buying costumes and gifts).
