Employee Spotlight: David Pelter

Employee Spotlight: David Pelter

At Lewis and Sheron we view our employees as our biggest strength.  We all work side by side each and every day and learn about their work ethic, their quirks and share memories that will last a lifetime.  Each month, we want to highlight a different employee so that you can take a behind the scenes look into their day to day at Lewis and Sheron as well as learn about some of the exciting ventures they have taken part in over the years.

First up, is our Sales Manager David Pelter.  For more than 20 years, David has played such an integral part of our business.  Never ceasing to amaze us with his hard work ethic and ability to make the best out of any situation, David is a team player that truly works to bring value and benefit to everyone he comes in contact with.

David’s colleagues were asked to share a sentiment about David and we received a unanimous message that he was just a great guy!

We had a few moments to catch up with him earlier this month, so let’s get into the interview…

It has been 22 years.  Share with us what has kept you here so long?

When you work at Lewis and Sheron, you don’t feel like an employee.   You feel like family.

Take us back 22 years and tell us what brought you here?

I actually worked with a company that was a vendor of Lewis and Sheron in the early 1990’s.  I had a lot of correspondence with Larry and when he heard the company I worked for was going out of business he asked if I would be interested in working at the store.  I came in for an interview a few days later and the rest is history.

What is the best part about working here?

The air condition and being indoors is a perk, but it is really the camaraderie we have as a staff.  The clientele is also great.  We have so many customers that we’ve had for years and they are such a joy to work with.

What is the biggest change you’ve seen?

The store has grown from 20,000 feet to 60,000 feet.  The amount of growth we continue to have is exciting.   Amazing to see how far we’ve come.

Favorite Memory?

20 years ago, my wife came into the store to tell me that she was pregnant with our first child.  I will never forget that moment or where I was standing when she told me.  It is by far, the most special moment I’ve had while working here.

What is your favorite part of the store?

The Gallery in the back is gorgeous.   The all white layout with the beautiful fabrics is always a favorite of the customers too.

Silk Damask Do you have a favorite fabric?

The embroidered silk fabric is my favorite right now.

Thanks for getting to know David!  Make sure to say hello to him when you see him in the store!  To learn more about our employees, check back next month for another highlight!
